Dwayne Johnson presentó al elenco de Young Rock, la nueva serie sobre su vida

El programa amparado con NBC contará con versiones de distintas edades de “La Roca”.

Dwayne Johnson dio a conocer al elenco de Young Rock, la nueva serie de comedia que estará amparada por NBC y explorará los años formativos de La Roca.

A través de su cuenta oficial de Instagram, Johnson anunció que tres actores tendrán la misión de interpretar a sus versiones más jóvenes: Adrian Groulx será Johnson a los 10 años, Bradley Constant interpretará al ex-luchador a los 15 años y Uli Latukefu dará vida a La Roca a los 20 años.

#YOUNGROCK This kid @adriangroulx is our anchor and my hero 👊🏾 He’s got the hardest job of ‘em of all playing “little Dewey” - yes, unfortunately that was the nickname my God parents gave me after the weather - as in dewdrops. Jesus. 🤦🏽‍♂️😂 At 10yrs old, I was rambunctious as all hell 😈, was already girl crazy 😜 and loved pro wrestling — especially the part when wrestlers would bleed 🩸🥴💀🤣 This kid, Adrian is my hero because I look back at this time in my life so fondly and how I viewed the world thru my 10yr old eyes. #YOUNGROCK This role is a special one and HIGHLY entertaining. Playing my grandma, Lia Maivia will be the one of a kind, Ana Tuisila. Cool backstory: My grandmother, Lia Maivia was pro wrestling’s first women’s promoter. She HAD TO BE tough as nails in a male dominated, shark infested world of wrestling. She set the bar for tough business practices and also set the bar for how loving a sweet grandma could be to her only grandson - me ☺️ She was also charged by the feds for extortion, eventually deported, became homeless and lost everything in the early 90’s. Crazy life. I was blessed enough to help change that hard time scenario around and get her back on her feet. Her journey was unreal and can’t wait for you guys to watch! #StrongWomen #YOUNGROCK @sevenbucksprod @NBC

Todo mientras Joseph Lee Anderson deberá interpretar a Rocky “Soulman” Johnson, el difunto padre del ex-luchador. Un anuncio que La Roca quiso acompañar con un emotivo tributo.

“Como ustedes saben, mi padre falleció a principios de este año, por lo que este papel es especial y nuestro primer episodio está dedicado a él”, escribió Johnson. “Mi papá era un verdadero pionero y rompió las barreras de color en todo nuestro país en los años 60, 70 y 80. La mitad de los primeros campeones por equipos negros (con Tony Atlas) mi papá era un tipo malo en el juego”.

Young Rock es un proyecto desarrollado por Johnson y Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat) y contará con apariciones del verdadero Johnson en todos sus episodios.

El piloto de la serie fue co-escrito por Khan y Jeff Chiang. Todo mientras la producción estará en manos de Universal Television, Seven Bucks Productions de Johnson y Fierce Baby Productions de Khan.

Por ahora Young Rock no tiene una fecha de estreno concreta, pero se espera que debute en 2021.
